Church Law requires that a candidate for Baptism be sponsored by a member of the Church community who will be willing and able to help the new Christian develop and grow in the Catholic Faith. Tweo godparents or sponsors is the norm: One MUST be Catholic; and one who is BAPTIZED CHRISTIAN but not of the Catholic Faith may be a "Christian Witness" to the Baptism. NOT permitted by Universal Catholic Church law are non-baptized, such as Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Jehovah's Witness, and Mormons.
