  • The City of Santa Barbara’s Business in Art Award was established to recognize and celebrate local businesses that uplift arts and culture through exemplary and innovative programs or practices.

    The Santa Barbara community is invited to nominate businesses that demonstrate a commitment to the cultural vibrancy of Santa Barbara through support for artists, culture bearers, creatives, and arts and culture organizations. Such support may include direct collaborations or partnerships, innovative programs and methods, or philanthropy. Awardees will receive a plaque to display in their business and be recognized through media channels.

    ELIGIBILITY

    Candidates for the award must conduct business within Santa Barbara City Limits as a retail or commercial establishment, sole practitionership, LLC, or corporation. Businesses that have already received the award are not eligible for consideration.

    PROCESS

    The nomination process is open to all members of the Santa Barbara community. All nominations will be reviewed and evaluated by the City Arts Advisory Committee. Award recipients will be notified via the contact information provided in this submission form.

    In 750 words or less, please describe why you are nominating this business. Provide specific examples of how this business has demonstrated the following:

    1) distinguished leadership in support of the arts through partnerships, innovative methods or programs, or philanthropic contributions,

    2) a large scope of impact and support that extends beyond immediate business interests,

    3) a visionary and innovative approach to championing the arts,

    4) successful cultivation of relationships and partnerships with individual artists and/or organizations in the arts community,

    5) significant actions that have benefitted or improved the arts and culture community
