  • Fairfax County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

    Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, was founded on January 13, 1913, by 22 collegiate women at Howard University to promote academic excellence and provide assistance to those in need. The Founders of Delta Sigma Theta envisioned an organization committed to sisterhood, scholarship, service, and addressing the social issues of the time. Since its founding, Delta Sigma Theta has become one of the preeminent service-based sororities, with more than 300,000 initiated members and over 1,000 chartered chapters worldwide. The major programs of the Sorority are based on the organization's Five Point Thrust of:

    • Economic Development
    • Educational Development
    • International Awareness and Involvement
    • Physical and Mental Health
    • Political Awareness and Involvement

    The Fairfax County Alumnae Chapter (FCAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., chartered in 1993, will award scholarships to African American female students who demonstrate a high degree of scholarship, leadership, and community service.

    The FCAC S. Yvonne McCall Scholarship is named in honor of member and Past President of Fairfax County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Yvonne McCall was a retired elementary school principal who was passionate about excellence especially in education. She championed literacy in young and old, and modeled service in the community. This scholarship honors her legacy and the respect for her monumental contributions to our community. Unlike our regular scholarships, male students may apply for the FCAC S. Yvonne McCall Scholarship.

    Both scholarship applicants must have a 3.0 or higher - grade point average on a 4.0 scale and must be a resident of Fairfax County, Virginia.

    The Official Transcript must be signed, labeled as an "Official Transcript," mailed and received no later than 6:00 p.m. on February 7, 2026.

  • A.  RESUME/LIST OF ACTIVITIES/COMMUNITY SERVICE

    Include the following in a resume: Academic Enrichment Programs, Extracurricular Activities, and Community service, highlighting your involvement in school clubs, service projects, and/or athletic programs. Please also include Work Experience for the last year (If applicable). Highlight all leadership roles and responsibilities, to include dates served.

    EXAMPLE OF COMMUNITY SERVICE:

    Helping Hands - 1234 Lorton Rd, Lorton, VA (May 2023 – Present)
    Group Volunteer - Volunteer with a non-profit organization that provides respite care for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Tutored approximately 2 to 3 children for 2 hours every 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month. I volunteered 10 times.

  • B. VIDEO

    Create a 2-minute video responding to one of the following questions. Video must be authentic. Video must be emailed to scholarship@fcacdst.org.

    1. Tell us about an identity (cultural, socioeconomic, linguistic) that is an important part of who you are and discuss how that identity informs your view on diversity, equity or inclusion.
    2. Describe a place or environment where you are most happy. What do you do or experience there, and why is it important to you?
    3. If you could improve one aspect of how society approaches mental health, what would it be and why?
  • C. TRANSCRIPT

    An official transcript must be mailed by an authorized school official and received no later than 6:00 p.m. on February 7, 2026. Please inform the school official that the transcript must be signed and labeled as an “Official Transcript”.  Do not wait until the last minute to request a transcript because the school needs time to process your request.
