Fairfax County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, was founded on January 13, 1913, by 22 collegiate women at Howard University to promote academic excellence and provide assistance to those in need. The Founders of Delta Sigma Theta envisioned an organization committed to sisterhood, scholarship, service, and addressing the social issues of the time. Since its founding, Delta Sigma Theta has become one of the preeminent service-based sororities, with more than 300,000 initiated members and over 1,000 chartered chapters worldwide. The major programs of the Sorority are based on the organization's Five Point Thrust of:
- Economic Development
- Educational Development
- International Awareness and Involvement
- Physical and Mental Health
- Political Awareness and Involvement
The Fairfax County Alumnae Chapter (FCAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., chartered in 1993, will award scholarships to African American female students who demonstrate a high degree of scholarship, leadership, and community service.
The FCAC S. Yvonne McCall Scholarship is named in honor of member and Past President of Fairfax County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Yvonne McCall was a retired elementary school principal who was passionate about excellence especially in education. She championed literacy in young and old, and modeled service in the community. This scholarship honors her legacy and the respect for her monumental contributions to our community. Unlike our regular scholarships, male students may apply for the FCAC S. Yvonne McCall Scholarship.
Both scholarship applicants must have a 3.0 or higher - grade point average on a 4.0 scale and must be a resident of Fairfax County, Virginia.
The Official Transcript must be signed, labeled as an "Official Transcript," mailed and received no later than 6:00 p.m. on February 7, 2026.
