LA BURLA dives deep into a dystopian reality, shaping an encounter between the sacred and the profane rituals and invocations of entities. Saints, witches, seers, devils, monsters and heroines cross the imagination of this piece, giving voice and body to a varied medieval iconographic repertoire. The performance brings together images that span several centuries of visual production in medieval times and discourse on religion, paganism and magic, clearly opposing two worldviews: the official one, dictated by the Church, and the unofficial one, linked to pagan rites and popular festivities. The work asks choreographically about the possible relationships between choreography and fiction.
