Loraine White Davis has proudly served Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. for over fifty-five consecutive years. Soror Davis became a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Iota Alpha Chapter on the campus of Florida Memorial in St. Augustine, Florida. Upon graduation from college, Soror Davis returned home to Fort Myers to assist with chartering the Eta Alpha Zeta Chapter. Soror Davis has served the sorority in numerous capacities, such as; Basileus, First Anti-Basileus, Grammateus, Tamias and numerous committee chairs.

Soror Davis’ pride and joy is working with the chapter’s youth auxiliaries and signature youth programs such as Sir Debonaire’. She has devoted countless hours as an advisor for the Archonettes and the Amicettes and has poured love and life lessons into numerous young men enrolled in the Sir Debonaire’ program. During her tenure as an advisor, the Eta Alpha Zeta Youth Auxiliary was noted for their stellar service to the local community as well as having one of the largest youth groups in Fort Myers.

Soror Davis later went on to serve as the Florida State Youth Coordinator for eleven years. During her time in this role, she continued to elevate Zeta’s youth within the state. She served alongside several notable Zetas who also believe, the youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow. Soror Davis was inducted into the Florida State Hall of Fame in 2010, an honor which is well deserved. Soror Davis is delighted to have a scholarship in her honor from the State of Florida devoted to senior Archonettes.

The Senior Archonette Scholarship was named in her honor and approved by the Florida delegation during the virtual Florida State Leadership Conference in May 2021

Purpose: Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, Florida State Leadership Conference Loraine Davis Senior Archonette Scholarship is available to graduating high school seniors who participates in the Florida Zeta Youth Archonette Auxiliary for 1 year or more and plan to enter college in the fall following graduation.

 

Criteria:

1. Be an active member of of the Florida Zeta Youth Auxiliary for 1 year or more
2. Plan to enter college in the fall following graduation at an accredited college or university
3. Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.7

 

Application Process:

Applicant must submit the following items:

1. Completed scholarship application online
2. Provide a statement on "How has your participation in the Zeta Youth Affiliates (Pearlettes, Amicettes, Archonettes or all) positively impacted your ability to excel as a leader."
3. Three Recommendation Letters (1 – Member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, 1 - Community leader, and 1 - School representative (principal teacher, counselor, etc.)
