
Soror Marian Harris Shannon was a lifetime achiever and a champion for youth and education. Marian was a Life Member of Hampton University Alumnus, she is a Retired Award winning Journalism and an Economics Teacher of Booker T. Washington Junior, Senior High School in Miami, Florida. On the State Level Soror Shannon is responsible for organizing the first meeting of Zetas in Tallahassee in 1955, she served as a Florida Director 1951 – 63; in 1959 she sought to provide assistance to struggling undergraduates on all Florida campuses; Vendor Coordinator 2000 – 2003, Phylacter 2000 – 2003, Workshop chair, Antapokritis – Editor of Newsletter, Parliamentarian, introduced and cultivated the idea of Area Coordinators Constitution and by-Laws Chair, Area V Coordinator, Parliamentarian Florida Zeta 100 Club (FL ZETA), inducted into the Florida Hall of Fame and recognized as a “Zeta for all Seasons”.
On the Regional level she served as Grammateus, Antapokritis, Editor of newsletter, Associate Director 1959 – 63, Public Relations Chair, Workshop Chair, Regional Marshall and Historian Emeritus. Soror Shannon was also inducted into the Southeastern Region Hall of Fame.
On the National level Soror Shannon was the 1963 Boule’ Marshall in Miami, Trustee 1963 – 65, Editor of Archon Magazine in 1965 – 70, Director of Public Relations 1974 – 76, Graduate Member of Executive Committee 1975 – 78, Advisor to the International Grand Basileus, Historian Emeritus and in 2006 she was the Honorary Boule Marshall. Soror In 2011, the Florida Leadership Conference named a scholarship in her home
