  • Community Engaged Learning (CEL) Poster Abstract Submission Form, 2026

    DUE January 6, 2026
  • UT San Antonio Health Science Center students and students from  affiliated institutions are invited to submit poster abstracts of their community engaged learning (CEL) projects for the 19th Annual CEL Conference on Saturday, January 31, 2026.

    This submission form is due Tuesday January 6, 2026 at 5pm  

    IMPORTANT DATES

    Tuesday 1/6:   Abstract submission deadline (5 pm)

    Tuesday 1/13: Notification of poster acceptance

    *Poster printing is covered.  Instructions and guidelines will be  provided for poster submission and in-person conference presentation.

    Thursday 1/15: Mandatory virtual poster presentation workshop (noon)

    Wednesday 1/21: Poster submission deadline for printing

     

    PRIZES / RECOGNITION

    The top 3 abstract winners will receive a Blue Ribbon Award and give an oral presentation at the CEL Conference.

    Hidden judges will select Best of Show and Best IPE awards during the conference. 1st-3rd place winners receive cash prizes.

    Select posters will be displayed in the Library following the conference.

  • Abstract

  • Abstracts must be written in the following format (max 305 words).  Include the 5 headings in your abstract:

    Background

    Describe the setting of the project and the community need being addressed.

    Objectives

    State the measurable objectives of your project.

    Methods

    Explain the project design and the intervention.

    Results

    Summarize findings / outcomes.  If results are pending, then state that and explain what you know so far or what you expect to find.

    Conclusion

    Discuss challenges, lessons learned, and future directions.

  • By hitting "Submit", I agree to submit a poster file, attend the Jan. 31, 2026 CEL Conference, and present my poster in person.  I understand I will need to register separately to attend the conference.  I give the Cheever Center for Medical Humanities & Ethics permission to publish my abstract and poster, as well as any photos taken of me at the conference, on the Center's website and/or in other publicity materials.
