  • Lois Schweikart O'Dell joined the Lambda Chapter at Temple University and served as the Financial Secretary of the National Foundation when the first contribution was made in May 1984. Previously, she served the Sorority as Director of Alumnae and Chairman of the National Headquarters Fund. Lois served in every office of the Philadelphia Alumnae Chapter, and was very active in her church, with her high school alumni association, and in the community. Over the years, Lois developed an interest in the improvement of the judicial and penal systems. She was a subcommittee chairman for the Citizens Committee for the Improvement of Justice, and was a member of the Task Force on Criminal and Juvenile Justice. Lois, who passed away in 2001, and her husband, Robert, were married for 59 years and had two children.

    The Anchor Award honors outstanding alumnae in good standing who have given exceptional dedication and faithful service to their alumnae chapter or association and the community for a minimum of five years. It shall be presented to those alumnae who are not presently in service to the National Organization.

    • Written applications may be no longer than three (3) typed, single-spaced pages in 12-point font.
    • Applications longer than three pages or in smaller font will automatically be disqualified.
    • Applications must be uploaded as a PDF document.

    Applications should address the following:

    • List all Alumnae Chapter or Association offices the nominee has held
    • Describe how the nominee has given back to her community; provide details on events and activities
    • Describe the contributions the nominee has made to the Alumnae Chapter or Association, the Sorority, or to individual members
