Mrs. Staehle first served as National Treasurer in 1925 after Alpha Sigma Tau became a National Sorority. She then served as Alpha Sigma Tau's third National President, from 1934 to 1949. She continued her involvement and volunteerism well beyond her presidency. During her 50-year service to Alpha Sigma Tau, she met and influenced more members than any other officer or chairman at the time. She was fiercely dedicated to our Ritual and values, and inspired others to live by them. She firmly believed that sorority membership's ultimate purpose was to influence the members to become their best selves at work, in school, and in their communities. No one in Alpha Sigma Tau's history has had a more dramatic and lasting influence on the Sorority's growth and development than Carrie Staehle. The Carrie W. Staehle Award is to honor initiated Chapter Advisory Board members for exceptional service to their chapter and the Sorority.
