The McCrory Order of Interfraternity Excellence Award is named in honor of Cynthia McCrory, Alpha Alpha alumna and Alpha Sigma Tau's first and only NPC Chairman, who served from 1983 to 1985.
The award honors an individual who has contributed outstanding service to the betterment of the fraternity/sorority system. An ideal nominee for this award would meet one or more of the following recommended criteria:
- Be from outside the Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority
- Be from any campus, regardless of whether Alpha Sigma Tau has an active collegiate chapter there
- Be a female or male nationally-known educator, fraternity/sorority executive, or university/college administrator in student affairs
- Exemplify the finest tradition of fraternal service
- Make noteworthy contributions in relations between sororities and fraternities and the community in which she or he is a part
- Show significant leadership among educators in relations between college administrators and fraternity and sorority life
- Have sustained successful leadership in interfraternity affairs
- Be a respected spokesperson for the important causes of fraternal ideals
