  • PAAC Summer Study Tours 2026: Parent Form

  • In June 2026, the Pacific & Asian Affairs Council (PAAC) continues its travel to the Asia-Pacific with exciting study tours to Taiwan and Palau!

    All current 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th graders (2025-2026 SY) from Hawai‘i's public, charter, private, and independent schools are invited to apply. This unique program offers immersion in the rich history, politics, and culture of either Taiwan or Palau, while students also learn about global issues, strengthen skills, and build a strong sense of community.

    Tour Dates:

    • Taiwan: June 6-19, 2026
    • Palau: June 20-29, 2026

    Please note: Selected students will be assigned to one destination.

    Program Dates (Pre & Post Trip): 

    Participation in this program requires attendance on *ALL* program dates. PAAC will work with students outside of O'ahu to arrange transport and lodging during the in-person pre-trip orientation.

    • Virtual Parent Information Meeting: Thurs. April 16, 2026 (evening)
    • Virtual Pre-Trip Workshop: Thurs. May 7, 2026 (evening) 
    • In-Person Pre-Trip Orientation: June 1-3 2026 (9AM-6PM)
    • Travel Dates: June 6-19, 2026
    • Group Presentation: Friday in September or October (afternoon/evening)
    • Virtual Parent Information Meeting: Thurs. April 30, 2026 (evening)
    • Virtual Pre-Trip Workshop: Mon. May 18, 2026 (evening) 
    • In-Person Pre-Trip Orientation: June 2-4 2025 (9AM-6PM)
    • Travel Dates: June 20-29, 2026
    • Digital Media Projects & Presentation in September or October (afternoon/evening

    All program dates listed above (except travel dates) are tentative and will be confirmed as soon as possible.

    Program Cost & Financial Aid:

    • Estimated Program Cost: $4200 - $5000
    • Required Deposit: A non-refundable deposit of $500 is required upon acceptance to secure a student's place. This deposit cannot be covered by scholarship funds.
    • Financial Aid: Thanks to the generous support of the Freeman and Takitani Foundations, participants are eligible to receive financial aid to subsidize some of the trip cost.

    To be eligible for this scholarship, parents/legal guardians must complete the Financial Information section of this form in its entirety.
     

    Important Information Regarding This Parent Form

    This form should be completed by PARENTS/LEGAL GUARDIANS, not by students.

    This form serves two critical purposes:

    1) To obtain essential contact information for parents/guardians of student applicants.
    2) To collect family financial information for student applicants seeking scholarship consideration.
     

    How to Complete This Form

    • Read through the entire form before getting started.
    • Prepare your answers in advance. You may not be able to save your work and return to finish the application later.
       

    Parent Form Deadline
    Monday, January 12, 2026, at 11:59 PM HST (This is the same deadline as the student application).

  • What is your household adjusted gross income (AGI) for the most recent fiscal year? Please see FAFSA guidance for what to include (graphic below).

    1) If the student's parents are married, report the combined AGI for both parents.

    2) If the student's parents are not married, but live together, report the combined AGI for both parents.

    3) If the student's parents are not married, and do not live together, report the AGI for the one parent who (a) the student lived with more over the past 12 months or (b) provided more financial support over the past 12 months. If this parent has remarried, report the combined AGI for the parent and stepparent.
