Inspiration & Full Story:
Nature teaches us the beauty of balance—staying close without suffocating, connected yet free. This idea is captured through crown shyness, a rare occurrence in certain trees where their branches do not touch, leaving visible gaps between them. Scientists believe this happens to reduce competition for sunlight, prevent disease spread, or avoid damage from high winds. Trees, despite being part of the same ecosystem, instinctively know to leave space for each other to thrive.
In this design, I use crown shyness as a metaphor for human relationships—we are all part of the same world, growing together, yet needing space to breathe, think, and evolve in our own way.
• Two humans reach out to each other but maintain a small gap between them, symbolizing that even in strong connections, personal space is essential.
• Birds fly in the same direction, yet each maintains a fair distance, illustrating how we can move forward together while honoring individual journeys.
Social distance isn’t about disconnection—it’s about mutual respect. No matter how close we are, we must understand when to step back, allowing room for growth, personal time, and privacy.
This design is a reminder that true connection isn’t about proximity—it’s about understanding, respect, and knowing that giving space doesn’t mean losing closeness.
