  • Purpose

    Going Local Grants help educators provide Pre-K through collegiate-level students with valuable, real-world education and experiences directly related to the agriculture industry and the North Carolina Standard Course of Study. The grants value up to $500.
  • Who can apply?

    Licensed teachers practicing in traditional public schools, private charter schools, public magnet schools, private schools, online academies, home schools, colleges and universities are encouraged to apply. This grant is for North Carolina teachers only. North Carolina Cooperative Extension personnel, PTO organizations, non-profit organizations, etc. are not eligible for this grant.
  • Deadlines

    We award two cycles of grants. The deadline for the fall cycle is November 1, and the deadline for the spring cycle is April 1.
  • Directions - Please read carefully!

    The Going Local Grant will inquire on six major elements:

    • Educational standards - What educational standards will be addressed by this project?
    • Budget - includes a complete itemized budget and correct grant total
    • NC Agriculture - How does this project relate to North Carolina agriculture?
    • Sharing - How will your school, local community, and County Farm Bureau learn about your project?
    • Sustainability - Is your project sustainable from year-to-year?

    Please read, and pay close attention to what each question/element specifically asks!

    This grant DOES NOT fund the following :

    • Field trips
    • Meals
    • Events
    • Salaries, compensation, or funding for employees, or personnel associated with the grant project, or anything related to paying individuals or organizations for work, services, or time

    Other items of note:

    • We do not accept grant applications that have been written using artificial intelligence (AI), or have elements of AI. These grant applications will be deleted with notice to the applicant.

    If you are awarded a Going Local Grant:

    • You will be required to complete a grant survey which you will receive electronically from NCFB Ag in the Classroom within a year of receiving the grant.
    • You can apply in subsequent cycles for new grant projects.

    If you are not awarded a Going Local Grant:

    • You can reapply in subsequent cycles for the same grant project, or a new grant project.
    • Your application will be released to the local County Farm Bureau who could choose to independently fund your grant project.

    If I am awarded a grant for the project(s) mentioned in this application, I acknowledge that I am required to complete a survey sent to me by NCFB AITC.
