Thank you so much for your interest in connecting with the Phoenix Farm & Retreat.
There are several ways you can become part of what we’re building — from joining as a community member or work-trade participant who lives and contributes on the land, to bringing your skills in regenerative agriculture, animal care, culinary arts, creative media, guest experiences, or wellness offerings into the project in an entrepreneurial, income-earning way. We are looking for people who want to plug into a bigger vision while also having room to grow their own gifts, offerings, and earning potential in alignment with the farm.
In addition, we are open to collaborating with licensed wellness and medical professionals through separately structured business arrangements, as required under Ohio’s Corporate Practice of Medicine laws. We are also open to supporters who wish to contribute through financial donations or explore private, project-based investment opportunities.
This application helps us streamline inquiries, understand your vision and background, and direct your submission to the appropriate category so we can review and respond efficiently.
Please note that currently, opportunities at Phoenix Farm & Retreat are not traditional employee-employer roles. Most collaborations fall under work-trade, profit-sharing, partnerships, contracted services, or membership-based agreements, rather than hourly employment.
We will be prioritizing applicants who wish to live and work on the farm, especially those who already have their own housing — such as a van, RV, yurt, bus conversion, tiny home, or a nearby residence. Many opportunities also include the potential to earn income through farm operations, short-term rentals, events, guest experiences, culinary services, creative/media work, or other on-site offerings.
We also welcome individuals who work remotely and maintain a stable outside income. Remote workers often integrate well into the community — contributing to land stewardship, creative projects, animal care, or daily farm tasks in a flexible and balanced way while maintaining their professional careers.
Our goal is to form mutually beneficial relationships, rooted in collaboration, integrity, and shared growth. For example, a community member may serve as the housekeeper for the main farmhouse — overseeing cleaning, laundry, and general upkeep. Their agreed-upon hours could count toward their membership or site-use contribution, while also allowing them to earn income by handling turnovers for short-term rental guests (receiving the cleaning fee directly).
We are currently seeking individuals with experience or interest in the following areas:
Housekeeper / Cleaner / Organizer
Daily upkeep of the farmhouse, organization, laundry, and income-earning cleaning opportunities for guest turnovers.
Marketing, Social Media, Digital Media & Content Creation
Photography, videography, storytelling, editing, social strategy, platform management, brand development, and documenting the evolution of the farm. Ideally this role is filled by someone who is on-site and can regularly capture and create content around life on the land, guest experiences, and farm projects.
Chef / Community Cook / Baker / Culinary Lead
Preparing community meals, supporting farm-to-table events and retreats, developing recipes, and potentially creating value-added products.
• Chefs may earn income by offering guest meal experiences and supporting retreats or small events.
• Bakers may earn income by selling fresh breads, pastries, and baked goods through the farm stand or special orders.
Animal Caretaker / Livestock & Guest-Animal Handler
Caring for mini highland cattle and other farm animals, supporting guest-animal experiences, and helping develop long-term herd and breeding programs.
Regenerative Farmers / Gardeners / Land Stewards
With over 170 acres of farmland, pasture, and forest, we are open to co-creating projects involving vegetables, flowers, agroforestry, mushrooms, permaculture, pastured livestock, specialty crops, and more. These roles are especially well-suited for community members who live on or near the farm and want to develop long-term, regenerative systems with shared benefit and profit-sharing opportunities.
Wellness, Therapeutic, Clinical, or Medical Professionals
Nurse practitioners, MDs/DOs, mental-health clinicians, LMTs, herbalists, and holistic practitioners interested in offering services to guests. All medical or regulated services must be structured in alignment with Ohio’s Corporate Practice of Medicine, which may involve operating through your own professional entity and collaborating with the farm on experiences, events, or offerings.
We have also included options for short-term volunteers / work-trade / WWOOF-style stays, media and press inquiries, and a donations / investor interest category, as well as a general “Other” option for unique connection ideas or specialized collaborations not listed above.
Our intention is to welcome individuals who resonate with our mission, contribute meaningfully, and grow alongside the land, the animals, the community, and the vision of the Phoenix Farm & Retreat. Please read the following sections carefully and answer as fully as possible so we can best understand your strengths, goals, and the type of connection you’re seeking.
