Are you able to commit to fostering until your foster finds an adoptive home? This can be a quick process or take longer.

Some of our cats & kittens come to us as strays and they need to spend a minimum of 14 days in quarantine without any contact to other animals, preferably in a large crate in a spare room. Do you have a suitable spare room or space?

Are you able to provide a dedicated space for fostering?

Your home will need to be secure enough that your foster cat will not be able to escape. This includes securing windows, doors and flyscreens. Do you agree to ensure your foster cat will be kept indoors in a secure environment?

Are you currently employed? Fostering while being employed outside your home can work well, and we would ensure your foster cat is one that can stay unsupervised. If yes, how many hours per week are you away from home?

We will require an inspection of your home to ensure that the security requirements are met. If we have no available person to carry out the inspection, we ask that you send a short video of your home. Do you agree to this?

Can you transport foster cats when needed (vet appointments etc.)?

Are you able to supply food, bed, and litter for your foster animal?

If you become a foster carer with Heart & Soul Rescue, you will be responsible for the safety and wellbeing of that animal.

Do you agree to let us know at once should your foster kitten/cat become unwell, or if you have any problems with your foster kitten/cat so we can assist you?

Declaration and Understanding between the parties

Please read and confirm your acceptance by signing below.

1. If my foster cat gets outside I will call Heart & Soul Rescue immediately.

2. My services are provided strictly in a voluntary capacity as a volunteer, and without any express or implied promise of salary,
compensation or other payment of any kind whatsoever.

3. I understand that Heart & Soul Rescue will be responsible for all veterinary fees but that I must consult the organisation before taking my foster pet to any vet, so they can nominate our pre-approved vet clinics, unless it is an emergency.

4. I understand that Heart & Soul Rescue may terminate my services as a volunteer at any time at its discretion.

5. I understand that Heart & Soul Rescue will interview and ultimately approve potential adopters; however my opinion on the match between pet and adopter will be an important part of this process.

6. I acknowledge that any foster pet is the property of Heart & Soul Rescue and I will return the foster pet to Heart & Soul Rescue if I am requested to do so.

7. I fully understand that Heart & Soul Rescue expects high standards of moral and ethical treatment of the animals under its care. I will adhere strictly to these standards in my capacity as a volunteer.

8. I agree to not leave a Heart & Soul Rescue foster pet in anyone else’s care unless that person is pre-approved by the Foster Program contact/representative of Heart &Soul Rescue.

9. I agree to not take any other pets into my care or home (short or long term) during the time I am actively fostering for Heart & Soul Rescue without the approval of Heart & Soul Rescue.

10. I confirm that ALL information I have provided is correct. I understand that providing untruthful answers or failure to comply with the requirements of this application can result in the refusal of this application.

I acknowledge that this Agreement forms the basis of my relationship with Heart & Soul Rescue in a volunteer capacity.
