    Thank you for taking the time to nominate an individual in your organization for this year’s Wichita Medical Research and Education Foundation Ethics Educator of the Year Award.

    The WMREF Ethics Educator Award recognizes an outstanding healthcare worker who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to teaching, modeling, and promoting ethical conduct, integrity, and moral reasoning within the medical setting. This award celebrates individuals who go above and beyond to cultivate a strong ethical relationships with patients, colleagues, and community, fostering an environment where ethical principles are taught, valued and actively discussed.

    The recipient should be an exemplar of ethical leadership.

    Qualifications: The nominee must meet the following criteria and provide supporting evidence:

    • Professional Longetivity: Have served within the healthcare field for a minimum of five years or more. 
    • Excellence in Ethics Education: Educating the public or specific community groups on healthcare ethics topics (e.g., end-of-life care, health equity), and/or conducting professional development for practicing clinicians and university students on emerging ethical issues is the nominee's competency. 
    • Modeling Ethical Behavior: The nominee consistently exhibits the highest standards of professional ethics, fairness, honesty, and integrity in all interactions with students, parents, colleagues, and the community.
    • Community Involvement: The nominee extends their ethical commitment by participating in or leading community initiatives focused on healthcare ethics pillars; autonomy, justice, beneficence, and non-maleficence.
