Application for Agriculture Athlete of the Year
DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION: December 31, 2025
The Kentucky Department of Agriculture in Partnership with the Kentucky High School Athletic Association will award (4) $1,000 scholarships to two male and two female athletes who are chosen as the Kentucky Ag Athletes of the Year and (2) $2,000 scholarships will be awarded to one male and one female overall winners as the Outstanding Kentucky Ag Athletes of the Year.
Candidates must be Kentucky farmers or involved in agriculture and participate in one or more KHSAA sports or sport activities during the 2025-2026 school year.
The six recipients will be named "2026 Kentucky Ag Athletes of the Year" and "2026 Outstanding Kentucky Ag Athletes of the Year" and awards will be presented at the 2026 UK HealthCare Boys' Sweet Sixteen in March at Rupp Arena.
This is a one time award and a nonrenewable scholarship payable to an instituiton of higher learning and not endowed for expansion.
CRITERIA FOR SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION:
High school gradutating senior
Must be a Kentucky farmer or involved in agriculture
Participate in one or more KHSAA sports or sport activites during the 2025-2026 school year
Minimum GPA of 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale, if weighted, GPA must be converted to 4.0 scale by counselor)
Accepted to a higher education 2 year, 4 year or trade school institution
(An agriculture major is not required of applicants. Applicants of in-state colleges are preferred, however, if applicants seek specialized degrees in agriculture found in an out-of-state school, they will be considered.)

APPLICANTS SELECTED AS FINALISTS WILL BE CONTACTED BY THE KENTUCKY DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE TO SUBMIT THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:
Two letters of recommendation (1 touching on your impact in Agriculture and 1 touching on your impact in athletics)
A head and shoulders picture (i.e. school picture)
SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT THE FOLLOWING AS A CONDITION TO RECEIVING THE AWARD:
A copy of acceptance letter of the institution you will be attending and/or class schedule for 1st semester.
