Benchmarking Study: Redefining EMR Optimization, Workflow Intelligence, and Clinician Enablement
We’re conducting a national leadership study to better understand how healthcare systems are approaching EMR optimization, clinician enablement, and intelligent workflow design. The insights will inform a benchmarking report shared with participants, offering a clear view into how your organization compares to peers across the country: what’s working, what’s not, and what emerging leaders are doing differently. Participants will also be invited to join a private executive roundtable in September to discuss the findings with their peers.
Executive Lens
When you think about EMR optimization, which of the following reflects your leadership philosophy?
We must work around limitations - fixing workflow issues without replacing systems.
We’re investing in replacements to solve foundational flaws.
Optimization alone isn’t enough. We need intelligent systems that think alongside clinicians.
We focus on compliance, not strategic innovation.
What do you believe is the biggest misconception about EMR modernization in healthcare today?
In your view, what’s the most underutilized opportunity to reduce clinician burnout or cognitive load? (Select up to 2)
Smarter documentation tools
Workflow-integrated clinical logic
Delegation automation
User-centered interface design
Removing data duplication
Centralizing intake and triage

How do you currently identify or validate workflow friction?
Internal surveys or burnout metrics
Leadership observation or clinician escalation
EHR usage data or clicks
External consultants or audits
We don’t have a consistent process
What is your team’s level of confidence in the ROI of your digital health investments (past 2 years)?
High – We've seen measurable impact
Moderate – Some wins, some misses
Low – ROI unclear or disappointing
Not tracked or measured
Innovation & Maturity
Which of the following statements best reflects your approach to intelligent care enablement?
We are layering new tools and hoping for integration.
We are re-architecting workflows with modular augmentation.
We are piloting ambient intelligence strategies.
We are still reliant on EMR-native upgrades only.
