Sarasota Youth Opera Spring 2026 Enrollment

Sarasota Youth Opera explores the world of opera through chorus and acting.

Concerts in the community - Our spring semester focuses on selections of operatic and classical music to be performed in formal concerts in the community. Singers are placed in either Mixed Chorus or Preparatory Chorus according to their age and ability which provides a setting for them to participate and progress at their own level as they gain greater skills and experience.

Individual coachings - Youth opera members will be able to take one-on-one coachings at no extra cost with Maestro Jesse and Ms. Martha. In these coachings, singers may work on the repertoire for Youth Opera as well as solo pieces.

An official rehearsal and performance calendar will be sent out upon acceptance into the program.

Open Enrollment will be from November 1st through January 26th.

Rehearsals will begin the week of January 13.

Prep Chorus: Ages 8 and above
Saturdays 10:00-11:00 a.m.	January - May	$225
Must be 8 or older by May 31, 2026

Mixed Chorus Ages 11 and above (based on ability)
Tuesdays & Thursdays 5:30-7:00 p.m.	January- May	$275
Must be 11 or older by May 31, 2026

$25 Off per singer	2 or more singers from the same family

Atfter your submission, Ms. Cameron (Youth Opera Coordinator) will be in contact with you to schedule an audition. Auditions are by appointment only.

Auditionees are asked to prepare and present one of the following:

1) A classical or operatic aria of choice (please bring sheet music in the appropriate key)

OR

2) The Star-Spangled Banner, or another simple song familiar to the singer

Singers may also be asked to do some simple vocal exercises to determine thier range with Maestro Jessé (Youth Opera Music Director) and Ms. Martha (Director of Education).

Tuition Assistance
Assistance is awarded on the basis of financial need. The questions below are designed to assist in understanding each family’s situation and to ensure that financial aid is awarded to those qualified members with the greatest need.

Your tuition assistance amount will be communicated via email within 5 business days of program acceptance, and you will be provided with the option of paying the remaining balance in-full or on a payment plan (divided into four equal payments).

AGREEMENT & ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
I give permission for my child’s full participation in Sarasota Youth Opera (SYO).

I hereby permit the use of my child’s name, quotations, performances, voice and likeness in print or any other medium, including without limitation to photographs, video recordings, and/or audio recordings (collectively “Recordings”) in connection with SYO activities for any purposes SYO may desire, including without limitation to advertisements and other publications, film, videotape, audio tapes, television, social media or theatrical use approved by Sarasota Opera Association (SOA) staff. I further herby assign any and all of my child’s copyright interests in such Recordings to SOA.

I agree to make payments to SOA until the outstanding balance is paid. I understand that tuition is non-refundable and cannot be pro-rated. If my credit or debit card should be declined three (3) times during a semester, I understand that a decline fee of $25 will be charged to my account.

Prior to the first rehearsal you will receive a Medical Release Form to be filled out and notarized before coming to rehearsal. There will be a notary at the first few rehearsals to help complete this paperwork.

If you participated in the Fall Semester, you will not need to fill this out.
