    TSC Mid-Season Academy Tryouts

  • Please review the minimum tryout requirements prior to booking: 

    Swimmers must be born June 8, 2015 or later. No exceptions. Our season runs until June 7, 2026.

    All tryout swimmers must consistently demonstrate effort, focus, and the ability to apply corrections. Please see below for a comprehensive overview of the minimum skill requirements to try out for each level:

    Bronze: Ages 6-8 (2019, 2018, 2017): Proper technique in freestyle with consistent flutter kick and side breathing every 3 strokes, backstroke with consistent flutter kick, strokes, and body/head position, breaststroke kick (or approaching). Swimmers must be able to complete 25 metres of freestyle and 25 metres of backstroke without pausing or stopping.

    Silver: Ages 6-9 (2018, 2017, 2016): Proper technique (pull, kick, body position, timing) and legal in freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke, and approaching proper technique in butterfly. Swimmers must be able to dive and do flipturns. Swimmers must be able to complete a minimum of 50 metres of freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke without stopping.

    Gold: Ages 7-10 (2017, 2016, 2015): Proper technique (pull, kick, body position, timing) and legal in all 4 competitive swim strokes, side push offs with streamline underwater dolphin kick, dive starts, and all stroke turns; ability to make pace times and training capacity demands. Must be 10 for the entire season, i.e. born June 8, 2015 or later. *Limited Spaces.

    Please note that your swimmer is above the entry age of Academy swimmers. Competitive swimming experience is required for swimmers born June 8, 2015 or earlier. To be added to our email list for future competitive stream tryout updates please fill in a New Swimmer Tryout Form.

    Each tryout session will take approximately 15 minutes. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your tryout time. Latecomers will not be accommodated. Once a session is full it will not be selectable. Sessions are grouped by age/level. Swimmers must be born June 8, 2015 or later.

    This acknowledgment and assumption of risks form has to be signed before participating in any Activity sanctioned or organized by Swimming Natation Canada, Swim Ontario, or Swim Ontario’s registered Swimming Clubs

    As a participant, or on behalf of a minor participant, in the Activities organized, recognized or sanctioned by Swimming Natation Canada (“SNC”), Swim Ontario (“SO”) or a registered Swimming Club, I hereby acknowledge and agree to the following terms and conditions respecting my/their participation in any Activity.

  • Definitions

    1.  “Activity” or “Activities” means any in-person or virtual activities such as events, training camps, programs, competitions, physical training performed or conducted in Water or outside Water, recognized, organized or sanctioned by SNC or SO or SO’s Swimming Clubs.

    2. “Agreement” means this Acknowledgement and Assumption of Risk.

    3. “Injury or Health-related problem” means any injury, health-related issue or illness including mental health issues diagnosed by a medical practitioner.

    4. “Members” means the members listed in Article 2 of SO’s bylaws dated September 14, 2019 or Section 2.1 of SNC’s bylaws dated July 29, 2019, as revised.

    5. “Minor” means the minor participant named in the Introduction.

    6. “Organization” means collectively, SNC, SO, SO’s Swimming Clubs and their respective coaches, directors, officers, committee members, members, employees, volunteers, participants, agents and representatives.

    7. “Registrant” means a participant and all individuals or entities of SNC including those individuals and associations, incorporated or unincorporated, as described in SNC’s national registration policy, procedures and rules manual who have met the requirements of registration and the registration has been completely processed and registrants or registered participants of SO or a registered Swimming Club.

    8. “Swimming Club” means a swimming club that is registered with SO or SNC.

    9. “Water” means any outdoor or indoor pools, artificial or natural water basins used for swimming.
