    The ICPHSO Nominating Committee carefully considers a range of factors when reviewing applicants for potential nomination to the Board of Directors. Each of the following criteria will be used in evaluating all applicants:

      • Membership Standing: Must be current ICPHSO member in good standing (paid-up membership)
      • Volunteer Involvement: Demonstrated past engagement with ICPHSO, including but not limited to proposal submissions, participation on the Planning Committee (or other Committees), serving as a speaker or moderator, assisting with logistics (e.g. bag stuffing), or supporting sponsorships and exhibits
      • Subject Matter Expertise: Knowledge and understanding of current and emerging product safety issues and trends
      • Personal Qualities: Proven dedication, responsibility and commitment to the ICPHSO mission
      • Leadership & Strategic Thinking: Experience in policymaking, strategic planning and leadership
      • Analytical Skills: Strong decision-making and critical thinking skills
      • Financial Oversight: Familiarity with developing and maintaining organization budgets and financial activities
      • Collaboration & Communication: Ability to work effectively in a multi-stakeholder, inclusive environment; excellent communication and interpersonal skills
      • Commitment: Willingness and ability to dedicate the necessary time and resources to serve on the Board, contribute to committees, and participate, and attend ICPHSO events
      • Stakeholder Representation: Connection to at least one of ICPHSO's stakeholder communities including but not limited to manufacturing, retail, trade associations, non-profit or consumer organizations, safety organizations, legal, standards, testing, consulting, academic/research or media and other

    Commitment to Broad Representation

    ICPHSO believes that the strength of the product safety community lies in its ability to bring together a wide range of perspectives and experiences. Product safety is a universal concern that crosses boundaries and political lines. We are committed to building a Board that reflects the full spectrum of our stakeholders, ensuring voices from all segments of the community are considered. Representation from groups that have historically less visibility will be part of our selection process.

    Participation and Financial Expectations

    Board members are expected to attend and actively participate in ICPHSO events and conferences. Please note that Board members are responsible for covering their own travel and registration expenses. However, in support of greater inclusion, ICPHSO may offer scholarship assistance to underrepresented stakeholders who are elected to the Board and who may require support to attend events.

    Applicant Interviews

    As part of the review process, the Nominating Committee may request interviews with selected applicants. If a follow-up interview is required, a member of the Committee will contact you directly.
