2026 MOBTS Board of Directors Nominations

The nominations deadline is Friday, January 5, 2026.

Review this nomination form in full as there are four (4) questions to answer for the vetting process. If your nomination goes through to the ballot, your responses to these questions will be provided to our membership.

Please be aware that per MOBTS bylaws nominees must be current members of MOBTS to be eligible for ballot consideration. If the nominee is not a member, the nominee must proceed to MOBTS.org to purchase a one-year membership.

If nominating an MOBTS member (other than yourself in a self-nomination), you must have the consent of the prospective nominee prior to submitting this application. Nominations without prior consent will be discarded.

Expectations of Board Members
Board members are expected to be physically present for the June pre-conference meeting and the annual Fall Business Meeting (typically toward the end of October), as well as present and engaged in any virtual meetings, email, and text-based discussions conducted in between. MOBTS provides funding to the annual Fall Board Meeting. MOBTS assumes institutional support for attendance to the meeting at the annual conference.

A nomination does not guarantee a place on the ballot. The Nominations & Elections Committee will determine the final slate for the ballot.

There are currently two positions for nomination for the role of Director At-Large seats:

At-Large: A Director At-Large position will be charged with and volunteer for tasks, initiatives, and committees as they arise. In addition, a Director may request consideration to shift to a specific responsibility/portfolio (ex. Preconference Chair) as it becomes available.

A member of the Nominations & Elections Committee will follow up with nominees. A nomination does not guarantee a place on the ballot as MOBTS board positions are highly sought after resulting in an abundance of nominations. Long-term presence in the Society is not a prerequisite to be on the ballot, so we encourage junior, mid-career, and senior faculty alike to be nominated!

In recent years, MOBTS has become an increasingly global organization through its diverse membership, its annual conference in the United States, its annual MOBTS international conference, and its annual MOBTS Oceania conference. How will your past experiences in academia and personal experience influence your guidance as a Director on the MOBTS Board?

Recent MOBTS initiatives have included professionalizing the organization's operations, advancing our journals, bringing youth into our organization so as to establish the next generation of teacher-scholar leaders, supporting increased diversity within our membership, the globalization of MOBTS, the acquisition of the Collegiate Leadership Challenge, and reach efforts and collaboration with external academic groups and institutions. What initiative(s), whether new or existing, do you see being critically important for the Board to focus on over the next several years?

Academia in general, the state of the academic economy, and institutional expectations and norms are in a constant state of shift, perhaps more so than ever following the impacts of the post-COVID workplace, the increased politization of higher ed, the introduction of AI into the classroom, and the population cliff that we're now facing as the number of prospective students for institutions have begun dwindling. Whether it be the impact on travel and budgets, the fear of decreased retention rates across the entirety of higher-education, or increased workload and expectations placed on faculty (amongst numerous other issues being faced by faculty), where do you see higher education as a whole in 5-to-10 years? What role do you see MOBTS playing during these times?

Finally, on a lighter note – our conferences embody the spirit and mission of our organization. Please give briefly tell us (1) the single MOBTS session/moment that impacted your approach to the classroom the greatest, and (2) your single fondest memory (…that can be shared) from our conferences.
