    Residential Street Tree Interest Form

  •      In support of Tree City USA and the Grow In Danville initiative, the Public Works Department offers to plant a street tree in front of your home at no cost while funding is available. Trees will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis, with a limit of one tree per property. Trees will be planted in the public right-of-way or, if needed, in your front yard with a simple agreement for maintenance. This program helps expand Danville's Urban Forest Canopy, improving air quality and neighborhood appeal, and is funded by the City Wide Tree Planting Program and the Virginia Trees for Clean Water grant.

    Planting Details:

The City Horticulturist will assist with tree and site selection, and local landscapers will perform the installation. Trees will typically range from 4 to 8 feet in height at the time of planting, with installations scheduled between fall and spring.

    Tree Selection:

The City Horticulturist will help you choose a tree suitable for your yard. Tree selection is determined by yard size, available space, and proximity to overhead power lines and structures. Selection is subject to availability at the time of planting. A list of recommended ornamental and shade trees is provided for your consideration.
