SPARK is a dynamic and transformative leadership development program designed to cultivate the next generation of Red Angus leaders and breeders. Geared toward junior members aged 16 to 21, this program offers a unique blend of experiential learning, mentorship, and skill-building activities aimed at fostering leadership qualities, personal growth, and social responsibility.
Our program is built on the belief that every young breeder possesses inherent leadership potential waiting to be unlocked and nurtured. Through interactive workshops, team-building exercises, and hands-on experiences, participants are equipped with the tools, knowledge, and confidence needed to become effective leaders in the beef industry and beyond.
SPARK is an elite leadership conference hosted by GKB Cattle at Hi Point Ranch in Desdemona, TX. Limited spots will be available for the 2026 SPARK Leadership Class. Applicants must submit an application to be considered for SPARK. Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee, and applicants will be chosen to attend SPARK by the committee.
Age requirement: 16-21 as of January 1, 2026
Application Deadline: January 9, 2026
A complete application must be submitted, including all supporting materials in order to be considered for attendance.
Please note the following before applying:
- All attendees will be required to fly into DFW by 3 PM on Thursday, April 9, to be shuttled to the Hi-Point Ranch. If another airport is utilized, it will be the attendees' responsibility to get themselves to Hi-Point Ranch.
- All attendees will be required to fly out of DFW on Sunday, April 12. Flights should not be booked prior to 3 PM.
- Once applicants are selected, they will be notified. There will be a $300 registration fee. Registration fees will be billed to your Red Angus Association account. Please review the JRA Event Cancellation Policy on the SPARK page on the JRA website.
