  • KCA Construction Education Foundation Scholarship Application

    Through the KCA Construction Education Foundation, the Kansas Contractors Association awards scholarships ranging from $500 to $2,500 for Kansas students pursuing a degree program and career path related to heavy & highway construction at an accredited Kansas university, college, community college or technical college.

    What is Heavy Construction?
    Think of “planes, trains and automobiles.” Heavy construction involves infrastructure, such as highways, bridges, utilities, railroads, clean and waste water systems, and airports.

    Eligibility:
    Student must be enrolled or intending to enroll in an accredited Kansas university, college, community college or technical college for the 2026-2027 school year in a degree program related to heavy construction. Examples include construction management, surveying, heavy equipment operation, welding, bridge/highway engineering or another field of study with the intent to work in the heavy & highway construction industry.

    Preference is given to students who have completed an internship or intend to complete an internship with a Kansas heavy construction contractor that is a member of the Kansas Contractors Association.

    Scholarship Determination:
    The number and dollar amount of awards will be determined by KCA’s Construction Education Foundation Board of Directors based on the availability of funds and number of applications received. All complete applications received by the deadline will be considered. Scholarship funds will be sent directly to the recipient’s college or university financial aid office in their name for disbursement.

    Internship Option:
    Scholarship winners will be eligible to receive an additional award for completing an internship with a KCA member contractor. If you have questions about how to be matched with a contractor for an internship, please contact Stephanie Mullholland at stephanie@webuildkansas.com.

    Scholarship winners may be eligible for additional scholarship funds if they complete a summer internship with a KCA member contractor. This award would be in addition to wages paid by the company for which you intern.

  • IN SUBMITTING THIS APPLICATION, I AGREE I HAVE READ THE SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES AND UNDERSTAND THAT, IF I AM SELECTED TO RECEIVE A SCHOLARSHIP:

    1. I will be a student enrolled at the named college/university for the period stated in the application;

    2. Funds will be paid directly to my college/university in my name by the KCA Construction Education Foundation;

    3. I will ensure the funds received from the Foundation are applied toward expenses associated with my education or internship including (but not limited to): tuition, books, housing, or other necessary fees or expenses required by the college/university; and

    4. I will consent to and authorize the use of my name and photo by the KCA for purposes of communicating this year's scholarship winners.
