    Thank you for your interest in partnering with us to provide an internship opportunity for a Plano ISD high school student. Your participation not only supports your mission and capacity needs, but it also creates a meaningful, real-world experience that helps shape our region’s future workforce.

    Qualified 501(c)3 Nonprofit organizations in the Plano area are eligible to apply for grant funds.  Grant Applications for summer 2026 will be accepted from November 10, 2025 through January 19, 2026.  

    Before you begin, please ensure you’ve reviewed the grant guidelines and eligibility requirements.  Please complete all required fields and upload the necessary documentation prior to submitting your application.  Incomplete applications will not be considered.

  • Grant Overview

  • The Plano Mayor’s Summer Internship Program offers grants to qualified nonprofit organizations to support the hiring of a student intern for 20 hours per week over an 8-week period. This grant is designed to help nonprofits provide meaningful work experiences for students, fostering skill development and community engagement.

    • Grant Amount: $2,000
    • Internship Duration: 8 weeks or 160 hours (June 8 - July 31, 2026)
    • Internship Hours: Minimum of 20 hours per week
    • Intern Pay Rate: Minimum $13 per hour
    • Nonprofit Contribution: Nonprofits are responsible for all costs exceeding the $2,000 grant (e.g., intern pay beyond 160 hours, offering a higher hourly pay rate, administrative fees, etc.).
    • Grant Use: 100% of the grant funds must be used to pay the intern’s wages. No portion of the funds may be retained for administrative or other purposes.
  • Insurance Requirements

  • To be eligible for funding from PMSIP, you must provide verification of liability and workers compensation insurance.  Please view insurance requirements outlined here and verify your organization has - or will obtain - the coverage required. 

    If funding is granted, you will be required to submit a Certificate of Insurance prior to receiving the funds.
