INTRODUCTION
Mission: Fayette County Farm Bureau Education Foundation, Inc. began in 1996 as a non-profit organization seeking to make a difference in students’ lives and in our local community’s future. Our goal is to identify, through a competitive application and interview process, Fayette County students who have excelled in academic, extracurricular, and/or agricultural activities, and who are likely to make an impact on our present and future Bluegrass Area. We provide scholarship support to selected individuals for a maximum of eight consecutive semesters of undergraduate studies.
Monies for the Fayette County Farm Bureau Education Foundation, Inc. Scholarship have been raised through the leadership of the Fayette County Farm Bureau Directors. Past and present directors and other volunteers conduct a Farm Machinery Consignment Auction each year with all of the proceeds going towards the scholarship program. To date the Fayette County Farm Bureau Education Foundation, Inc. has awarded over $1 Million in scholarship monies. The Fayette County Farm Bureau Education Foundation, Inc. administers the scholarships up to $30,000 and will annually select qualified recipient(s).
TOTAL SCHOLARSHIP VALUE
The Fayette County Farm Bureau Education Foundation, Inc. awards a maximum of $30,000 in the amount of $7,500 per year. The scholarship recipient must demonstrate measurable academic progress toward earning a four-year undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university. Scholarships can be applied to tuition, housing, books, etc. Payments are made directly to the college of your choice. Scholarship committee decisions regarding award renewal are final.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
Each applicant must:
- Reside in and attend school in Fayette County
- Be a high school senior
- Be a member of Fayette County Farm Bureau. (If you are not a member, you or your family may join FCFB prior to your application submission.) You must maintain your membership while your scholarship is in force.
- Have a minimum 3.0 unweighted GPA (on a 4.0 scale).
- List your score for the SAT or ACT if taken. There is not a minimum score required for application.
- Enclose an official high school transcript.
- Enclose a letter of recommendation from a school counselor or teacher.
- Complete the scholarship application, including the essay.
Please note:
- The scholarship committee will make the final determination on all cases concerning the interpretation of these rules. All applications become the property of the Fayette County Farm Bureau Education Foundation, Inc. and will not be returned.
- Fayette County Farm Bureau Education Foundation Inc. scholarship program is open to qualified applicants without regard to race, creed, color, gender, national or ethnic origin.
- If invited to an interview, applicants will be contacted to set up an interview time.
AWARD RECIPIENT REQUIREMENTS
- Recipient may enter any accredited college and must pursue a four-year course of study.
- Recipient must enter college as a beginning freshman no later than the fall semester following high school graduation, unless a circumstance beyond the student’s control, such as serious illness or injury, prevents enrolling at that time. In such a case, recipient must enter college by the spring semester of the following year or the scholarship will go to the first alternate.
- Dropping out of school, except for serious illness or injury, shall cause the recipient to lose the scholarship. The remaining award will then go to the first alternate.
- Recipient must be a full-time student each semester unless an exception is requested in writing and approved.
- Recipient must demonstrate normal progress toward a 4-year undergraduate degree (Minimum of 12 credit hours per semester) from an accredited college or university.
- Recipient must maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher, with no semester falling below a 2.5 GPA or they will forfeit the award.
- Recipient must provide the Scholarship Committee with an official, updated transcript at the end of each semester.
- Once transcripts have been received, reviewed, and approved the scholarship checks will be released.
- Recipient is encouraged to attend at least two Fayette County Farm Bureau events per year.
- Recipient is required to notify the Fayette County Farm Bureau office of graduation date plans.
- Recipient is to provide Fayette County Farm Bureau office with a 5x7 photo to use for promotional purposes.
