  • Reining Horse Foundation Scholarship Application

    Must be submitted on or before March 2, 2026
  • The Reining Horse Foundation (RHF) is committed to providing leadership and scholarship opportunities to enable youth to further excel in their future careers and competition. The RHF is offering at least $30,000 in academic and need-based scholarships for 10 deserving NRHyA members. The scholarships will include three $5,000, three $2,500, three $2,000 and one $1,500 award.

    Determination for a scholarship is based on financial need, academic achievement, NRHA and NRHyA involvement, other activities and references.

    If selected as a scholarship recipient, portions of your essay may be used in promotion.

  • Prequalification

  • **If you answered no, you are ineligible to apply at this time.**

    An applicant must be an NRHA member at the time of application and for at least 24 months prior to applying. An applicant must also be a senior in high school pursuing an undergraduate degree in a two- or four-year-institution, trade or technical school.

    A previous recipient of these scholarships may reapply if s/he meets all other criteria. A student can only receive one of the RHF Scholarships twice.

    1. Letters of reference must state how s/he knows the applicant and for how long.
    2. References may not be written by a parent, legal guardian or a relative.
    3. The reference must have knowledge of the applicant’s activities and must validate them in the recommendation.

  • Scholarship funding will be issued directly to the accredited college or university. Under no circumstances will the funding be sent to the recipient. Recipient must provide NRHA Youth Department with the following information for the release of funds using a requested form:

    • School name
    • School Financial Aid office address
    • Contact
    • Contact’s phone number

    1. Funds may be used for tuition, books, academic fees and board.
    2. If the recipient chooses to postpone their education, they must contact the NRHA office. If the NRHA office is not contacted within one year of receiving the scholarship, the scholarship will be forfeited.
    3. Recipients of scholarships may request their scholarships be disbursed up to their 24th birthday.
