  • Statement of Unity for a Provincial Filipino Cultural Centre

  • We, the undersigned organization in British Columbia, express our strong support for establishing a provincial Filipino cultural centre and for recognizing Mabuhay House Society as the provincial government’s partner in this historic effort.

The Filipino community in BC is vibrant and diverse—nearly 175,000 strong—representing many languages, professions, and regions of origin. Over decades, Filipino organizations have reflected this diversity. One effort unites these communities and their allies: building a provincial Filipino cultural centre.

We recognize this is a monumental undertaking that requires a dedicated organization with the capacity and expertise to steward the project from planning through completion and long-term operations. We therefore welcome the provincial government’s commitment to develop the centre in coordination with Mabuhay House Society.

This is a generational opportunity, built on years of advocacy by many leaders and organizations. As an ally organization, we support Mabuhay House Society as it carries this work forward with partners across the province. The goal is more than opening a building—it is opening a home for Filipino culture that welcomes all communities, strengthens intercultural connections, and deepens relationships with Indigenous peoples on whose lands we live and work. We believe this centre can thrive and serve future generations.

We add our organizational voice to the growing call for a provincial Filipino cultural centre and affirm our support for Mabuhay House Society’s leadership. Together—with community members, all orders of government, and diverse stakeholders—we are confident this long-standing vision can be realized as a lasting legacy for everyone in British Columbia.
