Each location has its own rules & requirements. Please respect them.
Even though we are two separate organizations, we are partners through Petsmart & the behavior of volunteers reflects back on us. Petsmart is not our boss, but we must maintain a professional working relationship with all employees. Any issues should come to me directly & be handled by me.
Petsmart rules are as follows-
- Do not open any door, unless all cats are put away. This includes entering.
- One kennel family may come out to play at one time unless specified permission is granted.
- You must tell staff when you're leaving so they can lock the adoption center. (Cranberry)
- Cleaning is not required for any volunteer, but it helps the rescue, the cats, promotes a positive adoption experience & helps cats get adopted. It also helps Petsmart staff.
- No cleaning supplies can be brought in without Petsmart approval the food & litter is provided by Petsmart
😸 You can bring small toys, treats, & wet food for the cats
⭐️ Please read body language of the cats. Not all cats want to be picked up, held, pet, or bothered.
If a cat is giving you signs that they are unhappy, you must listen to them. Their kennel is their house & their safe space. Some cats prefer to be in the kennel vs. out. Other cats prefer to be out vs. in. Every cat is different so it's important to meet them where they are. Don't force anything.
