The American Cinema Editors, an honorary society, was formed in 1950 to bring
into close alliance those who have proven their ability and commitment to advance
the art and science of film editing by attaining artistic pre-eminence.
Today ACE continues to enhance the prestige of our craft and its essential role in the
filmmaking process by promoting the art of storytelling to the next generation of film
editors and to the world.
- As an ACE member, I pledge to uphold the highest standards of integrity and excellence, and to elevate the image and dignity of the profession.
- As an ACE member I will be mindful of all Motion Picture Editors Guild rules and guidelines and pledge to exert a positive influence over our editing environments, schedules and working conditions so that they are safe, healthy and reasonable for ourselves, our Assistants and staff.
- As an ACE member I shall not engage in or tolerate abuse, harassment or discrimination based on gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, disability, age, religion or nationality.
- As an ACE member I may not disclose sensitive or private content of Board Meet-ings, committee meetings or ACE programs without prior permission from the ACE Board of Directors or Executive Director.
- I understand that members may not rep- resent themselves as speaking for ACE without prior written permission from the ACE Board of Directors or Executive Director outlining the limits and purpose.
- I understand that members may not use our logo, stationery, mailing and email lists without written permission from our Executive Director.
- I understand that ACE may use my image and content of interviews and panel discussions on our website, in our maga-zine and in other media venues for ACE promotional purposes.
- Members are expected to conduct them-selves with the highest standards of
courtesy and respect in order for all our members and their guests to enjoy our professional community.
Violations to the above will be reviewed by the ACE Board of Directors and may cause a member to be deemed Not in Good Standing and subject to censure, suspension or expulsion.
