Loop Art Critique Explanation:
Loop Art Critique (LAC) is a gesamtunwerk artwork that offers a 6 week private critique club and public showcase for artists. Applicants respond to an Open Call and are selected by guest jurors without revealing their identities, as no names, biographical information or artist statements are required—only the artwork is reviewed. Because LAC operates within a virtual space, most artwork submissions are digital. However, physical artworks can be submitted with the understanding that they will be viewed as digital representations.
Profit Status: LAC is a non-commercial artwork initiated by a single artist and sustained through personal funding and a partnership with The MUD Foundation, a non-profit focused on Art & Technology located in Miami, FL USA.
Loop Staff: There are 3 artists who are Loop Staff and support artists through leading the critiques, posting on social media and newsletters and joining in with critique discussions. There is also a dedicated tech support team generously provided by The MUD Foundaiton.
Anonymity: LAC believes that artists have a right to remain anonymous throughout the submission and critique process in order to focus on their artwork. It is optional.
Location/Platform: LAC is hosted on Onland, a spatial internet environment created by the The MUD Foundation. It does not have corporate affiliations. Loop.onland.io
Educational Aspect: LAC is not formally educational but includes moderated critiques, offering artists valuable feedback from their peers. A Discord server is utilized to archive links, feedback and faciliate communication.
