  • Badminton Australia (BA) is seeking nominations from individuals interested in joining the BA Selectors Panel (SP) as an Independent Selector or Independent Chair of the Selectors Panel.

    The SP plays a critical role in selecting athletes for Badminton Australia’s National Programs and Teams, in alignment with the BA Selection Policy. The panel consists of an Independent Chair (non-voting), BA High Performance staff, and two Independent Selectors appointed for either one-year or two-year terms.

    Independent means not being a current athlete or immediate family member of any athlete in any of the BA National Programs or having been a BA Staff or Board Member in the past 12 months.

    Panel members are expected to:

    • Attend all scheduled meetings.
    • Wholeheartedly champion the BA SP within the badminton and wider community.
    • Sharing all communications and information across all BA SP members.
    • Making timely decisions and taking action so as to not hold up processes.
    • Notifying members of the BA SP, as soon as practical, if any matter arises which may be deemed to affect the functioning of the BA SP.

    Roles and Responsibilities of the Panel.

    • Ensure policies and processes are followed (Chair).
    • To keep an accurate and up to date Conflict of Interest Register
    • Fostering collaboration and removing obstacles to successfully select athletes into National Programs and Teams.
    • Provide a high standard of communication to the CEO who is the conduit between the BA SP and the BA Board.
    • Ensure coaches / selectors are present at key junior and senior events in order to track performances and player development.
    • Keep accurate records/minutes of meetings (Chair).
    • Provide guidance and work with the BA CEO to ensure deadlines are met and timely communications are sent out to key stakeholders.
    • Operate in line with the Sport Australia Integrity framework. (https://www.sportintegrity.gov.au/)
    • Regularly review and discuss the functioning of the BA SP with the objective to review how improvements can be made to the way the BA SP operates.
    • Inform the CEO immediately if for any reason, the BA SP is unable to come to a decision when selecting athletes into National Programs and Teams.
    • Provide reports to the BA CEO as and when required.
