  • Selection will be made without regard to the contestant's race, color, ethnicity, religion, gender, or physical handicap. Three (3) winners from CVEC will be selected for the Government- in-Action Youth Tour trip held June 14-21, 2026. Selection is based on the completed application. Contestants selected to represent CVEC as a Youth Tour delegate are required to travel with their state delegation for the full tour. Delegates are not allowed to travel independently from the delegation to, from, or during the trip to Austin, Texas or Washington, D.C. except in the case of an emergency. In the event of an emergency, arrangements must be approved and will be coordinated through the statewide organization. If a delegate cannot attend the entire Youth Tour, the delegate will be required to forfeit the trip, and the alternate will go in their place.

I further authorize release of my name and photos in connection with announcements of Youth Tour awards if I am selected to be a CVEC Youth Tour recipient.

  • I hereby grant permission for (name of student) CVEC Government-in-Action Youth Tour competition. I further authorize release of the name and photos of my child in connection with announcements of Youth Tour awards in the event he/she is selected to be a CVEC Youth Tour recipient. I understand that my child must attend the entire Youth Tour and travel both to and from Austin, Texas and Washington, D.C. with the state delegation. Only in the event of an emergency will my child be able to leave the tour. I understand that the coordination of my child's return in the event of an emergency will be coordinated through the statewide organization.

    Contest Rules and Requirements

    1. Concho Valley Electric Cooperative will sponsor three area students on an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., in June 2026.

    2. The contest will be open to any student who is a sophomore, junior, or senior in the school year 2025/2026 in one of the school districts within the cooperative's service territory.

    3. The student's permanent residence must have an active CVEC account and be in good standing. The student must be a dependent of an active CVEC member. 

    4. An independent committee will select the winning essays on basis of knowledge of the subject, originality, composition, and grammar. Reference materials and other information can be obtained at local high schools, public libraries or online. Essays must be typed.

    5. Three winners will be selected from all submitted entries. Entries must be mailed to Concho Valley Electric Cooperative, P.O. Box 3388, San Angelo, Tx 76902, dropped off in our office at 2530 Pulliam St., San Angelo, Tx 76905, or via the online form at cvec.coop/community/youth-tour.

    6. Students must submit the completed application, with parent/guardian's signatures, and three (3) essays to CVEC by the close of business (5:00 p.m.) on February 6, 2026.

    7. If you are chosen but find that you are unable to participate in the trip, please contact CVEC as soon as possible. A runner-up will represent CVEC on the trip in case a winner is not able to attend.

    8. Winner images and names may be featured on our website, social media channels, in the CVEC pages of Texas Co-op Power magazine and shared with area news media. Winners must submit a recent photo of themselves (class photo preferred) and may also be asked to have their photos taken at CVEC. The winners will be required to give a summary of their trip at the Annual Meeting in July. This will be recorded prior to the meeting, following the delegates return from Youth Tour.
