• Youth Tobacco Prevention Mini Funding Application

  • The purpose of this mini funding is to provide funds to schools and organizations that work with youth to implement tobacco control education activities, curriculums, and cultural educational opportunities into their school, organization, and/or community.

    Funding has been split into three categories: Curriculum Implementation, Educational Activities, Cultural Education Opportunities. Applicants may select more than one category if the maximum funding request does not exceed $5,000. 

    Funding will be facilitated through the South Dakota Department of Health upon completion of activities with monthly reimbursement. Receipts will not be required at time of invoicing but may be required if questions arise. Note reimbursements cannot be provided until a contract is in place.

    Activities implemented in months prior to funding availability will not be reimbursed.

    Apply by completing the following application. Applications that are incomplete or received after October 7, 2026, will not be considered for funding.

    Mini funding activities, reporting forms, and success story or interview must be completed and sent in by April 30, 2027. The maximum amount overall will be $5,000 given. The minimum RFA award is $500 per applicant. The South Dakota Tobacco Control Program reserves the right to adjust funding amounts based on the discretion of the program.

  • School districts awarded Mini Funding will be expected to agree to the items below in order to be considered eligible for funding. Funds should be used to implement activities as stated in application. Applications may request funds for supplies for activities or displays to help educate youth. However, funds do have stipulations. Funding is available on a first awarded, first serve basis.
