• Are you a dependant of a TACP member?
• Are you a high school senior interested in pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university in a community or criminal justice related field?
• Are you currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a community or criminal justice related degree?
• Do you have at least a 2.5 GPA?

Steps to Apply
1. Complete the scholarship application and be sure you qualify based on the criteria noted above and submit your application by April 30, 2026.
2. Obtain approval from your local Chief of Police or equlivalent.
3. Obtain two (2) letters of recommendation. One of the letters must be from a professor or teacher within a related program of study.
4. Obtain your high school and/or college transcript with SAT/ACT scores to be submitted to the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police.
5. Submit a typed essay (500 words or less) on a predetermined topic, noted in the application packet. The essay will be judged on originality, content, grammar,
spelling, and punctuation.

The Process
The Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police Scholarship Committee will evaluate the application and award the scholarship on May 8, 2026, and announce the winners during the TACP meeting on June 3-5, 2026. Once a determination is made, you will be notified regarding the decision of the scholarship committee. If you receive the scholarship, the funds will be sent directly to the financial aid department of the recipient’s institution.
