Breaking Challah // Building Bridges: A Place at the Table
  • Breaking Challah, Building Bridges A Place at the Table

Join us for the final Breaking Challah // Building Bridges event of the season, featuring Craig Upshaw — a retired Halifax Regional Police Detective Constable and Atlantic Canada’s first full-time Hate Crime Investigator. With decades of experience in law enforcement, social work, and diversity leadership, Craig brings a rare perspective on how hate, bias, and extremism take hold and how communities can stand together against them. His work founding the Halifax's first ever Hate Crime Unit has helped transform how institutions respond to hate-motivated incidents and build trust with marginalized communities.Together, we’ll explore what hate looks like today, the importance of allyship across communities, and the growing urgency of confronting antisemitism and other forms of hate with courage and understanding. Enjoy a Shabbat meal, meaningful conversation, and an evening dedicated to learning, reflection, and solidarity. Breaking bread together remains one of the strongest ways to build bridges.
