    Our Tenets of Faith

    Whereas Fellowship Deaconry Ministries (FDM) is a Christian organization that believes that every member of our staff must “always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you” (1 Peter 3:15), we require that all employees, either full or part time, be in
    consonance with these tenets of faith which are based on the Holy Scriptures as understood and proclaimed by FDM, especially such essential doctrines as, but not limited to, the following:

    1. Holy Trinity - God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit
    We believe there is one true and living God, eternally existent in three persons, God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit, coequal from all eternity, three distinct persons, but of one essence, who is described in the Holy Scriptures as the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the Jewish scriptures, and as “Our Father who is in Heaven” by Jesus Christ in the New Testament scriptures.

    2. The Savior, our Lord Jesus Christ, his: a. Deity , b. Virgin Birth , c. Sinless Life , d. Vicarious Death, e. Actual Burial , f. Glorious Resurrection - bodily , g. Triumphant Ascension - bodily , h. Promised return for the church

    We believe that Jesus Christ is the image of the invisible God and He is Himself very God; He took upon Himself our nature, being conceived by the Holy Spirit and born fully human of the Virgin Mary; He died upon the cross as a sinless vicarious atonement for sinners; He arose from the dead in the same body in which He was crucified; He ascended into heaven in that body glorified where He now sits as supreme over all authority in heaven and earth and where He is
    now our interceding High Priest. He will come again personally and visibly to set up His Kingdom and to judge the living and the dead. As the only Son of God, Savior, High Priest and human incarnation of the invisible God, Jesus Christ is a standard of holiness, behavior and lovingkindness to which each believer is called.

    3. The Holy Spirit, eternally co-equal with the Father and Son, regenerates, indwells, transforms, equips and empowers the Believer in Jesus Christ;
    We believe in God the Holy Spirit, eternally coequal with God the Father and God the Son, who convicts sinners, and baptizes all true believers into the one true Church, sealing them as set apart to God until the day of final redemption, living within them, sanctifying them for holy living as exemplified, described and declared through the Holy Scripture, imparting spiritual gifts to them and empowering them for effective service.

    4. The verbal and plenary inspiration of the Holy Scriptures, and the sufficiency of the Holy Scriptures for salvation through Jesus Christ;
    We believe that the Holy Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments as commonly understood as the Christian scriptures without the apocryphal writings, are the written Word of God, every word fully inspired by the Holy Spirit and without error in the original manuscripts, and the sole, infallible rule of faith and practice. What we know about God, the moral condition of the universe as fallen and sinful, the essence of humanity both biological man and biological woman as being made in the image of God, the necessity for and sufficiency of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ for salvation, the expectation for believers to repent from worldly behaviors and embrace God’s ways by maturing toward holiness through empowering by the Holy Spirit, as well as general doctrines and practices (such as marriage being between one man and one woman, water baptism, Holy Communion, avoiding occult practices, social modesty, among others), is revealed and clarified only by examination of the Holy Scriptures.

    5. Salvation by grace through faith In Jesus Christ alone;
    We believe that salvation can be found only in Jesus Christ by grace through faith alone; the gift of salvation is received through an open confession of faith in the physical birth, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, as portrayed in the Holy Scriptures.

    6. The church universal which is the mystical body of Christ on earth, composed of all true believers,
    We believe that the Church Universal is composed of those men, women, boys and girls who have placed saving faith in Jesus Christ and are united together in Christ as one Body. The Church and its members are commissioned to make disciples of all nations.

    7. The destiny of believers -- Eternal Bliss; The destiny of unbelievers - Eternal Punishment
    We believe in the physical resurrection of the dead; of the unbeliever to the judgment and wrath of God and the eternal torment of conscious punishment; of the believer to the bliss and enjoyment of God and eternal life in fellowship with Him.

  • Code of Conduct

    Policy Inclusions. This ministry’s code of conduct is rooted in its sincerely held religious beliefs and is consistent with the following:

    1. The Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:2-17)
    2. The Great Commandments as stated by Jesus Christ (Matt. 22:37-40)
    3. The Tenants of Faith
    4. The staff handbook

    Personal Conduct:

    As a part of the Day Camp Sunshine ministry team, when I make my choices for personal actions (both in front of campers and in private), I will consider myself a representative of Jesus Christ and Day Camp Sunshine, and I will also consider the following Scriptural guidelines:

    Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all for the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31

    Abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul, having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation [...] For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men - as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God. 1 Peter 2:11b-16

    Rules of Conduct:

    As a staff member, I will be expected to be a constructive member of the staff, contributing in every way possible to Day Camp Sunshine's success, be a companion and guide to the campers and assume responsibility for their spiritual and physical welfare.  I will pray for unconverted campers and seek to lead them to Jesus Christ.  I will pray for campers to grow in the Lord and I am willing to go beyond the call of duty when needed.  I will prepare for the responsibility before camp begins and I will be present for staff meetings.  I will voice criticism ONLY to the person who has direct charge over my work area.  I will fulfill to the best of my ability the responsibilities listed in my job description. I understand that DCS has the right to dismiss me if I am not in compliance with camp policy.

    Inappropriate Conduct. Violation of ministry rules and policies may result in an oral warning, a written warning, and/or termination of a member’s role in the ministry community. There is no requirement that discipline be progressive or that a warning be given prior to demotion or any other disciplinary action, including discharge from the ministry community. Set forth below are some examples of misconduct which will not be tolerated by the ministry. This list is not exhaustive and examples are not listed in order of seriousness.

    1. Engaging in any form of illegal relationship with anyone under the age of 18.
    2. Any sexual activity that blatantly violates God’s design for marriage. Which includes all forms of sexual immorality. (Some examples include: adultery, fornication, cohabitation, homosexual behavior, rejection of one’s biological sex, and viewing pornography)
    3. Any form of verbal, physical, or sexual harassment.
    4. Unwillingness to submit to authority. Acting in a manner that intentionally and deliberately goes against policies, rules, or direct requests from superiors.
    5. Destruction of property that belongs to any co-workers, the organization, guests or campers, or anything that has been entrusted to your care.
    6. Anything that jeopardizes the health and safety of campers, co-workers, other Fellowship Deaconry staff members, guests, or is in direct violation of camp policy.
    7. Engaging in any form of unlawful activity.
    8. Violating any rules or policies that are stated in the Code of Conduct, staff handbook, tenants of faith, or any other Fellowship Deaconry policy.
    9. Acting in a manner that is contrary to or goes against the firmly held beliefs of Day Camp Sunshine and Fellowship Deaconry Ministries.
    10. Failure to adhere to the employee dress code by wearing inappropriate, extreme, or immodest clothing and being incompliant when a person in authority requests that clothing be changed. Remember that you are here to set an example for the campers.
    11. Even the moderate use of alcohol is strictly forbidden to staff members under the age of 21 on or off campus. Consuming alcohol on the property or while in the presence of staff members under the age of 18 is not permitted. Consider that one should never be a stumbling block or confusing witness to other believers.
    12. Vaping and the use of tobacco are also strictly forbidden on the Deaconry property.

    If I realize I have weaknesses in certain areas, I will do my best to avoid even temptation. However, I understand that should any staff member become a stumbling block in such a case, Day Camp Sunshine has the right to suspend or let him or her go for the rest of the summer.

    By submitting this application, I commit myself that barring any emergency or unforeseen circumstance, I will be at Day Camp Sunshine on the weeks that I said earlier in this application to fulfill my duties to the best of my abilities.
