Hosted by established guest artists from the Asia Pacific region, Choreolab is Chunky Move's biennial professional development workshop program.
Running from Monday 2–Saturday 7 March, Choreolab 2026 will be led by artist Geumhyung Jeong (Seoul), whose work ranges from performance, dance, choreography, theatre, video and installation.
Since the beginning of her career, Jeong’s work has investigated the relationship between the human body and the objects that surround it, by way of productions that combine languages and techniques from the fields of contemporary dance, puppet theatre and the visual arts. In the course of the physical interaction between her body and the objects, it becomes ambiguous who controls whom, blurring the line between inanimate and animate.
In Jeong’s edition of Choreolab, the task is to play with objects within the given rules. This workshop confronts us with various exercises and limitations that motivate us to find our own ways to play with restrictions, which allow us to arrive at unexpected ideas.
Participation in the workshop is free for selected artists who can register their interest via this EOI form. EOIs close 19 Jan 2026 at 11:59pm.
We look forward to receiving your application and to welcoming a new cohort of curious, generous, and fearless makers into the studio.
