Adopting a dog through Top of the Hill Dog Rescue Requies Commitment!

Our dogs have been saved from death row, neglect, or abandonment. They’ve already lost everything atleast once. They deserve stability, structure, and someone who won’t give up when things get hard.

At Top of the Hill Dog Rescue, we invest everything into saving, training, and preparing our dogs for success. We will always take our dogs back if needed  but our goal is for you to keep your dog for its life.

  • NEXT STEPS & REVIEW PROCESS
All adoption applications are carefully reviewed by Top of the Hill Dog Rescue to ensure the best possible placement for each dog.
Please note that submitting an application does not guarantee approval. Each application is evaluated based on compatibility, experience, and readiness to meet our adoption standards.

Our team personally reviews every application and may take a few days to respond. Once reviewed, you will receive an introduction text from one of our representatives to begin the conversation and discuss next steps in the process.

Our adoption office hours are 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM, seven days a week. Messages or applications received outside of business hours will be reviewed the following business day.

    MEET & GREET PROCESS

We begin every adoption process with a Zoom meet-and-greet between the potential adopter, the dog, and a Top of the Hill Dog Rescue representative.
This allows us to discuss the dog’s temperament, background, and needs while ensuring the adopter’s lifestyle and environment are a good fit.

If additional interaction is needed, we will schedule an in-person meet-and-greet.
Adoptions can sometimes be completed following a successful Zoom meeting; however, if an in-person meeting is required, it is the responsibility of the potential adopter to travel to San Juan Bautista, California for that appointment.
