    14-Passenger Bus Driver Guidelines
  • Thank you for your interest in driving a 14-passenger bus. Please carefully read the following guidelines and sign the acknowledgement section before operating a district vehicle.

  • Eligibility & Approval

    • All non-CDL drivers must be on the approved driver list maintained by the Transportation Department.
    • Each driver must be pre-approved by the school principal for the activity or trip involved.
    • Hourly employees may not drive 14-passenger vehicles unless they are Transportation Department employees or a volunteer driver.
    • All prospective drivers must:
      • Complete the Driver Form located on the Transportation Department page.
      • Attend a mandatory orientation session before driving.
      • Undergo a background check (if not currently a district employee).

     

  • Medical & Driving Requirements

    • Drivers must maintain a clear driving record to remain eligible.
    • Schools are responsible for paying for their drivers' driving record and random drug/alcohol testing.
    • Driver records will be checked annually.
    • The 14-passenger buses are equipped with seatbelts; all passengers must wear them.
  • Drug & Alcohol Testing

    • All 14-passenger bus drivers will be enrolled in general Transportation Department Pool for random drug and alcohol testing pool.
  • Hours of Service Limits

    • Maximum of 10 hours driving after 8 consecutive hours off duty.
    • Maximum 15-hour duty shift, including no more than 10 hours driving, after at least 8 consecutive hours off duty.
    • Maximum of 60total duty hours in any 7-day period.
  • Vehicle Capacity & Care

    • A maximum of 14 passengers is allowed (one per seat).
    • After each use, the driver must:
      • Refuel the bus (using a P-card from the school that used the bus)
      • Sweep out and mop the interior if needed
      • Clean the windshield
      • Empty all garbage
  • Consequences

    • Drivers who fail to follow these guidelines will lose their privileges to operate a 14-passenger bus.

    The 14-passengerbus, the current list of approved drivers, and all related records are maintained by the Transportation Department.

    I have read, understand, and agree to follow the Belgrade School District's 14-Passenger Bus Driver Guidelines. I understand that failure to comply with these guidelines may result in loss of driving privileges.
