Jesus Christ Superstar Audition Form

Auditions for Jesus Christ Superstar are Saturday, January 10th and Sunday, January 11th at the HCFTA. We will also be accepting video auditions no later than Friday, January 9th but you must be available for callbacks on Sunday to be cast. Please submit video auditions to gregrun@gmail.com.

If interested in auditioning, here are a few things you need to know!

We will be considering any gender or race for any of the available roles, but please be aware that the pronouns written in the material will not be changed and music will not be transposed to a different key.

Our goal is to have both a vocal ensemble and a dance ensemble. The choreography in this show has the potential to be quite intense in some aspects, which is where our vocal ensemble will come in to support our sound where it may be needed. Everyone will participate in both aspects in some capacity, but if you want to focus more on dance or more on vocals, there is a spot for you!

Most of the principal named roles will be singing and dancing in some form. So, if you are auditioning for a specific role, please sign up for both vocal and dance auditions.

Please be aware that there is no spoken dialogue in this show. So, when choosing your song, please choose something that not only shows off your vocals but also your acting skills. Additionally, in lieu of a traditional reading portion of the audition process, if you are auditioning for a specific named role you will be required to sing an excerpt we have selected for the character you wish to audition for. Please feel free to sing anything you want for your initial audition, but be prepared to sing the provided excerpt for the character you want for callbacks.

In the folder below, you will find vocal selections that best show each character’s range. You of course are not required to sing from the show. Just please remember that there will be no readings. So whatever song you choose, please be sure it shows your acting abilities. If you are auditioning for Jesus or Judas, there are 2 songs that you can choose from. I have also included a vocal selection that we will be given to those who are called back for Jesus and Judas, if you would like to review ahead of time.

General Rehearsal Schedule:

March 8th (Sunday) - Cast Orientation and script pickup.

March 9th to April 23rd - Rehearsals on Monday through Thursday evenings.

April 27th to May 1st - Pre-tech rehearsals in the LRS Theater at HCFTA; all cast required.

May 3rd (Sunday) - Sitzprobe (sing through with orchestra); all cast required.

May 4th to 7th - Tech rehearsals; all cast required
