    • Describes how you plan to manage your time throughout the year. While a member of Volunteer Staff, you will be expected to meet writing deadlines for NMUN•DC so that Background Guides and other materials can be published. Although you will have weeks to write each draft, budgeting time to meet deadlines is essential.

    • Provides examples of how you've worked on teams or with others in the past. As an educational conference, it is critical that Volunteer Staff are able to divide labor, manage conflicts, and mentor others. Please describe your experience in these areas, particularly how you envision interacting with other members of Volunteer Staff and delegates.

    2. Résumé or curriculum vitae (CV)

In no more than two pages, include your experiences, special skills, and/or unique characteristics. List any prior model United Nations experience you have, including committee and position.

    3. Writing or Editing Sample

Depending on the position you are applying for as your first choice, only choose one of the following to complete:

    • If you are applying as a Director (Committee and Conference Management), open up the Editing Sample, make a copy, and complete a high-level review of the International and Regional Framework section, including its footnotes, and the entire Bibliography. Please edit (leave comments and make changes in "suggestion mode") and add a summary comment at the end. When finished, label the document Last name,First name_NMUNDC2026_EditingSample. Then, add the Google Docs link to the following section.

    • If you are applying as an Assistant Director (Committee and Conference Management) submit a Writing Sample with a minimum of 500 words and a maximum of 1,500 words. Citations, in any style, must be used. Previous Background Guides and Position Papers submitted to model United Nations conferences are not permitted. You may use a writing sample from a recent publication or school assignment. When finished, label the document Last name,First name_NMUNDC2026_WritingSample. Include this Writing Sample directly in your application package.

    4. Hypothetical Situations

In no more than 200 words per situation, address how you would handle the following hypothetical situations.

    A) While writing the Background Guide with your Committee partner, the first draft of your guide receives many comments and requests that you drastically change direction. You find the feedback to be overwhelming, and you are confused how to revise your draft. How do you address this situation?

    B) During the conference, a delegate approaches you with concerns about how the committee is operating. They say that there are many other delegates who are talking over people and not being collaborative. How would you address these concerns?

    c) How do you handle high-stress situations? How do you approach organization and prioritization of tasks and deadlines in times of stress?
