Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is an organization dedicated to aiding in the education of talented youth throughout our community.
Requirements for the scholarship, application, and media waiver are included below.

WINONA CARGILE ALEXANDER LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
- Must be an African-American female or male.
- Must have a minimum unweighted G.P.A. of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale.
- Must graduate from a Duval, St. Johns, or Nassau County (public, private, or charter) high school at the end of the 2025-2026 academic school year.
- Must attend an accredited institution of higher education after graduation.
- Must provide an official high school transcript (should include ACT and/or SAT scores).
- Must have two (2) typed letters of recommendation that attest to your community involvement and leadership ability:
- One (1) letter must be from a high school staff member
- One (1) letter must be from an organization in which you have performed community service and include the total number of volunteer hours completed at this organization.
- Both letters must be on the appropriate organization’s letterhead and include a signature— either handwritten, electronic, or typed name with date
- Must submit a typed, double-spaced 1-page 500-750-word maximum essay using 12-point Times New Roman font.
- The essay MUST respond to the below prompt and include the following:
- Describe a leadership experience in which you made a difference in your community or on campus
- The attributes that you possess that make you a leader
- Specific examples of your leadership ability
- Any special leadership awards and recognition
- Participation in extracurricular activities and community service (Include time spent and any leadership positions held
- The submission should demonstrate the applicant’s knowledge based on topic, research skills, creativity, and proper use of the English language.
- Student and parent/guardian must complete and sign the scholarship application no later than February 14, 2026.
- Student and parent/guardian must sign the attached Dependent Acknowledgement Waiver and Media Waiver
