Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event Registration Page!
This event is for City of Ventura residents only. Small Business registration is completed by calling (805) 652-4525. Business waste is only accepted from 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM, requires a reservation and is not accepted during residential customer drop off times. In order to keep the event running smoothly, we ask that you please arrive at the time that you select below. Residents that show up before 9:00 AM will be asked to wait until after all businesses have arrived and been processed. Residents that arrive after 2:00 PM will be kindly turned away as categorizing, packing and transportation of waste collected starts promptly at 2:00 PM. Please respect that this event is for City of Ventura residents only. Materials accepted include:
Aerosol cans, adhesives, batteries, compressed gas or propane tanks under 5 gallons, fire extinguishers, fluorescent tubes and bulbs, fuel additives, gasoline, household cleaners, medical sharps, medications, mercury products, motor oil and filters, paint, polishes, varnishes, paint-related materials, pesticides, pool chemicals, turpentine, transmission fluid, smoke detectors and thermometers.
Items that are NOT accepted include:
55-gallon drums, compressed gas or propane tanks greater than 5 gallons, commercial and industrial waste, explosives, bullets, fireworks, radioactive material and electronic waste. E-waste can be dropped off for free at Gold Coast Recycling at any time.
Please note:
The Federal Department of Transportation regulations limit 15 gallons or 125 pounds of material that can be legally transported per visit. Asbestos must be soaked in water and double-bagged. Transite pipe must be cut in sections no loner than two feet, soaked and double-bagged. Medical sharps, hypodermic needles, pen needles, intravenous needles, lancets and other devices that are used to penetrate the skin for the delivery of medication will ONLY be accepted in an approved sharps container in compliance with State regulations.
Flammable liquids (gasoline, diesel, etc.) are bulked at the end of the event. Please schedule your appointment for 1:30 PM if you would like your gas container returned to you, otherwise you will be asked to return at the end of event if you would like your gas container back.
Used oil changing pans and absorbent mats are typically available at HHW events. Please identify in registration if you wish to receive a used oil changing pan and/or absorbent mat.
