Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is an organization dedicated to aiding in the education of talented youth throughout our community.
Requirements for the scholarship, application, and media waiver are included below.

BARBARA ENGLISH ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
- Must be an African-American female.
- Must have a minimum unweighted G.P.A. of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Must graduate from a Duval, St. Johns, and Nassau County (public, private, or charter) high school at the end of the 2025-2026 academic school year.
- Must attend an accredited institution of higher education after graduation.
- Must provide an official high school transcript (MUST include ACT and/or SAT scores).
- Must submit three (3) typed letters of recommendation:
- One (1) letter must be from a high school staff member and one (1) from guidance counselor.
- One (1) letter must be from an organization, church or community leader who knows you well.
- All letters must be on the appropriate organization’s letterhead and include a signature—either handwritten, electronic, or typed name with date
- Must submit a typed, double-spaced 1-page 750-word maximum essay using 12-point Times New Roman font.
- The essay should demonstrate how your personal development, personal achievements your academic achievements have prepared you for your future goals.
- Include a detailed description of the following points to substantiate your request:
- personal development (include description and time spent)
- personal achievements (include description and time spent)
- academic achievements and awards (include description and time spent)
- extracurricular activities (include description and time spent)
- leadership positions (include description and time spent)
- community service (include description and time spent)
- Submission must also respond to the following:
What have you had to overcome to achieve your academic and personal achievements?
- Student and parent/guardian must complete and sign the scholarship application no later than February 14, 2026.
- Student and parent/guardian must sign the attached Dependent Acknowledgement Waiver and Media Waiver.
