  • About the Program:

The West End Cultural Centre (WECC) Art Wall, a new visual arts initiative designed to showcase and support emerging artists in Winnipeg and surrounding communities.

This opportunity offers artists space to display their work in the WECC’s lobby area, a high-traffic public venue where concert-goers and community members can experience the art before shows and events.

Important: Application does not guarantee acceptance. Submissions will be reviewed by WECC staff or a selection committee. Only complete applications will be accepted.

Eligibility: Emerging artists (any medium suitable for wall display).
Display Location: WECC lobby “Art Wall.”
Sales: Artwork on display may be sold during the exhibition.

    • The WECC takes no commission or cut from any sale.
    • The WECC is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to artwork.
    • Artists are encouraged to maintain their own insurance or display reproductions if concerned about risk.
    • All artwork remains the sole property of the Artist.
    • WECC acknowledges that it gains no ownership, copyright, or reproduction rights to the artwork, except as permitted under the Promotion and Marketing clause (see below).
    • Sold pieces should remain installed until the end of the exhibition unless otherwise agreed in writing.

    Promotion and Marketing:

    • WECC may photograph or film for promotional purposes (social media, website, newsletters).
    • The Artist grants WECC a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use these images solely for promotional purposes.
    • The Artist may also use photographs or promotional materials referencing the art.

    Installation and Presentation:

    • Assisting with installation and removal of artwork (unless otherwise arranged).

    WECC provides:

    • Wall space and basic hanging hardware if available.
    • Reasonable assistance from staff for safe installation.

Art Opening or Artist Talk: A casual art opening or artist talk event will be held on an available date in the WECC lobby to be determined by WECC staff. The bar will be open and artists may invite friends, family, and community members.

Duration: Typically runs for a month or other defined term (to be confirmed by WECC staff upon acceptance).

    Termination:

    • Either party may cancel this agreement with reasonable notice (e.g., 14 days) if unforeseen circumstances arise.
