About Us:
Kairos Community Partners was created in the midst of the Covid-19 Pandemic, but our team of founders have been working in East Los Angeles since 2006 in various capacities including education and business initiatives. During the pandemic, we realized that there was an organizational void, with a costly runway in both time and money, for a program to get created and running on a moments notice. In order to provide ideas with the ability to be hatched quickly and with flexibility, we want to provide that infrastructure: a legal entity, 501(c)3 nonprofit status, basic infrastructure (website, phone number, fundraising platform, etc.) for our entire community. With that being said, we are busy building from within as well!
About Our Grants:
Each year, Kairos Community Ventures (KCV) giving circle raises funds to be distributed to organizations that serve the Los Angeles community in accordance with our mission and values. Both established nonprofit organizations and emerging community-based organizations have received grants to support the important work they do. Kairos Community Ventures funds PTO grants between $500 and $5,000 to help schools launch meaningful projects that strengthen students, families, and the community. Grants are awarded through an application process overseen by the KCV Grants Committee. Each grant and the total number of grants is based on available funds.
What We Fund:
Kairos Community Ventures believes that strong schools build strong communities—and when parents, teachers, and partners come together, students thrive. This grant is a way to invest directly into the people working hardest to make education vibrant, inclusive, and successful.
Schools and PTO/PTAs are encouraged to apply and share details about how the funding will make a positive impact. Together, we can continue building brighter futures—one school at a time.
Eligibility:
Any organization that has not received KCV funding in the past 3 year(s) is eligible to apply.
To be eligible for the KCV PTO/PTA Grant, the applicant must meet the following requirements:
Applicant entity
The applicant must be a recognized Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO), Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), or equivalent parent-school partner group associated with a K-12 school.
The school must be operating in [your region/state — e.g., “California”] (adjust depending on KCV’s geographic focus).
The PTO/PTA must have its relationship with the school formally established and in good standing.
School and community criteria
The school must be a public K-12 institution (or charter school) that serves children in the community.
Priority may be given to schools with demonstrated need (e.g., higher percentage of students qualifying for free/reduced lunch, under-resourced communities, or who are implementing innovative programs).
The project to be funded should benefit a broad set of students (rather than one individual) and align with the school’s mission and community goals.
Project focus and use of funds
Grant funds must be used for a well-defined project or initiative that supports classroom teaching, student enrichment, school community building, wellness programs, or innovation in the school environment.
The project must specify measurable goals (e.g., number of students impacted, outcomes expected).
Funds cannot be used for purely fundraising activities, debt repayment, or general operating expenses unrelated to the school initiative (unless explicitly allowed).
Financial and administrative accountability
The PTO/PTA must provide a budget for how the grant funds will be used, including cost breakdown, timeline, and roles/responsibilities.
The PTO/PTA must maintain financial records, report on outcomes after implementation, and comply with any KCV reporting requirements.
The school/PTO/PTA must have a valid tax-exempt status or be operating under a fiscally-sponsored entity, as required by KCV.
Application and event timing
The project must be initiated and completed (or substantially underway) within the timeframe specified by KCV (e.g., within the academic year or grant period).
Any unspent funds at the end of the grant period must be returned or reallocated as defined by KCV’s grant agreement.
Non-discrimination and equity
The application and project must demonstrate a commitment to equity and inclusion (e.g., serving all students, including historically underserved groups).
The PTO/PTA must agree to adhere to any non-discrimination policies of KCV and the school district.
