The Saranac Lake Women's College Scholarship Club is a 501 C 3 Non-Profit Charity that raises money annually to award scholarships to students in our community. We were established in 1939 and continue to support our community today.
Mission: Awarding Scholarships that empower local students to achieve their educational goals.
Vision: We are a vibrant, inclusive group of women passionately committed to education. We work with and for our local community to promote lifelong learning opportunities. Members also enjoy a warm sense of friendship and camaraderie while working together.
- Adults, regardless of gender, living in either Franklin or Essex County, returning to school after an absence from formal education of a year or more, with a preference given to residents of the Saranac Lake Central School District, are eligible to apply.
Women's College Scholarship Club creates community connections through grassroots fundraising, event sponsorships, and the stimulation of community awareness through educational programs and social interaction.
Reward: $3,000 scholarships are available.
Qualifications: Candidates must meet the following criteria to qualify for this award:
- Applicants must have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
- Applicants must provide financial information.
- Applicants must fill out a short application.
- A short history and goals statement must be submitted in a personal letter with the application (application is separate).
- Applicants must submit two letters of recommendation from non-family members.
- The applicant may receive a phone call if the committee has questions.
- Applications and letters are due no later than the second (2nd) Friday in May
Scholarships will be awarded by check to the winners once the club reviews a copy of proof of enrollment.
