During this year’s holiday season, the City of Selma will host Queen City Tree Village in beautiful Downtown Selma. We’re thrilled to bring the Riverfront Park to life with a glowing pathway of decorated Christmas trees. Guests will be able to stroll through a trail lined with trees, creating a magical experience for families, visitors, and holiday lovers of all ages.

The Tree Village is a free, family-friendly past time tradition that has been revitalized with hopes of encouraging shopping, dining, and exploring our downtown while supporting the businesses that keep Selma thriving. We invite businesses, organizations, individuals and community groups to sponsor a Christmas tree and showcase their holiday creativity. Participants will also compete for festive prizes including Best Decorated Tree, Social Media Favorite, and Mayor's Pick. We are looking forward to the unique themes and joyful displays created by our local community partners.

**Our grand opening celebration will take place immediately following the Legends and Lights Christmas Parade on Sunday, December 7, 2025 at 4 p.m.

***Trees will be delivered and set up on December 2–3, and all decorations should be completed by Saturday, December 6.

**Once decorated, the trees will remain on display throughout the holiday season for the entire community to enjoy.**

With your partnership, we’re working to make this year’s Tree Village the brightest one yet. Together, we can continue spreading joy, welcoming families downtown, and celebrating the spirit of Selma Together!

The 2025 Christmas Parade Committee

The City of Selma welcomes your participation in the annual Christmas Tree Village. To ensure a safe, orderly, and enjoyable experience for all residents and visitors, the following rules and guidelines must be observed by every participating organization, business, or individual.

1. Tree Setup and Decoration

All trees must be fully decorated by the setup deadline provided by the City.
Decorations must be weather-resistant and securely fastened to withstand outdoor conditions.
Electrical lighting and décor must be UL-listed for outdoor use. No open flames, candles, or hazardous materials are permitted.
Each participant must clearly display the name of their organization, business, or family on or near the tree.

2. Content Standards
All decorations must be appropriate for a family-friendly public event.
Political messaging, offensive language, discriminatory content, or imagery deemed inappropriate by the City is strictly prohibited.
The City reserves the right to require removal or modification of any decoration that does not meet these standards.

3. Maintenance and Safety
Participants are responsible for monitoring and maintaining their tree throughout the event period.
Any décor that becomes loose, damaged, or unsafe must be repaired promptly.
Participants must ensure that decorations do not obstruct walkways or interfere with neighboring displays.
The surrounding area must remain clean, orderly, and free of debris at all times.

4. Power and Lighting

Electrical access, if provided, may be limited and shared among participants.
All extension cords, timers, and lighting accessories must be approved by City staff in advance.
Unauthorized electrical connections are not permitted.

5. Takedown Requirements

All trees and decorations must be removed by the official takedown date communicated by the City.
Items left on site after the deadline may be removed or discarded at the City’s discretion.

6. Liability

The City of Selma is not responsible for damage, theft, or loss of decorations or personal property.
Participation in the Christmas Tree Winter Walk is voluntary, and all participants assume full responsibility for their materials and décor.

Companion groups must arrive at the same time. Line up numbers will be distributed in the order of arrival to the registration checkpoint (Water Avenue and Washington Street).

By my signature below or submission of this application, I the undersigned, do acknowledge that injures or loss can result from my participation in the 2025 City of Selma Annual Tree Village.

I, the undersigned, accept full responsibility and assume the risk for my participation. I, the undersigned, understand and agree to secure and maintain medical insurance on the participant/participants during the entire duration of participation. I, the undersigned, indemnify and hold the City of Selma, their employees, officers and staff harmless from any and all liability, claims, expenses, demands or legal actions or causes of action whatsoever arising out of or in connection with any loss, injury or damage associated with my participation.
